Types of Freedom Vinyl Fence

Vinyl fences are an ideal type of fence, as they require no maintenance and will not warp, discolor or ever need painting. Vinyl is made with PVC (polyvinyl chloride), where PVC resin is combined with other ingredients that give the fence strength, durability and weatherability. Many customers prefer vinyl fencing to traditional wood fencing because of these factors. In addition, vinyl lasts longer and is available in a wide range of styles and colors. Cleaning a vinyl fence is a snap – simply spray down with a garden hose.

Privacy fences are designed to conceal your yard from neighbors and passersby while also lending a decorative element to your landscape. One of the more common types of vinyl fence, privacy fences are good for enclosing pools or children’s play areas. Vinyl privacy fences are available as kits from most home and garden centers, complete with all of the components necessary for installation. Vinyl fences are available in a wide range of styles and colors and usually stand upwards of 6’-8’ tall for added security.

Picket fences are another popular type of vinyl fence, designed specifically to imitate the classic wooden picket fence. Traditional picket fences are made up of posts placed at measured intervals, then connected by two or more horizontal rails. They are ideal for keeping children and pets contained in the yard and defining boundaries, but don’t block any views. These fences tend to be shorter than privacy and semi-privacy fences.
Semi-private or Shadowbox fences use alternating panels across the back and front to give the fence the same look on both sides. They are ideal for neighboring properties since neither side will get a bad view. They allow sun, wind and circulation to come through the top, while offering privacy and security on the bottom portion of the panel. Most are around 6’ tall.

Lattice Top fences offer a distinct look. Lattice has all the qualities of a privacy fences with additional beauty. The top portion offers slight visibility and air flow, while the bottom portion offers total privacy. They are commonly used on property lines and around swimming pools but may also serve to conceal unsightly areas or views.

Post and rail fence is usually found on farms and larger properties. Consisting of 2, 3 or 4 rails, vinyl post and rail fences keep larger animals contained while also allowing for views into the yard.
